Belgian coach Yannick Ferreira, head of Zamalek team, expressed his frustration after losing 1-2 to Al Ahly on Monday in the ninth round of the Egyptian Premier League.

Ferreira said in a post-match press conference: “We had two chances to score in the first 10 minutes, then the opponent entered the game, and despite our lead with the first goal, we retreated excessively.”

He added: “In the second half, we started with a late press, and we had a chance to make it 2-0, but after the missed opportunity, Al Ahly equalized and took the lead. After falling behind, I pushed two players in the front line in the last 10 minutes, and we missed a chance when the ball hit the crossbar.”

He explained: “We thought about making changes before conceding the first goal, but the performance was good. I wanted to bring in El-Wensh and play with a back three. Seifeddine Jaziri is performing well like the other forwards and may appear in upcoming matches. We have four forwards and decide before each match who the team relies on.”

Ferreira continued: “After drawing with El Mokawloon, we won two matches, and after losing to Wadi Degla, we won two matches. We tried to come back against Al Ahly but luck was not on our side.”

He concluded: “We faced a strong opponent with an attacking style, and we will prepare seriously for the next match. We learn from every game and always try to be better.”
