Mohamed Abdel Wahid, the general coach of the Egyptian national team, confirmed that the earlier issue with Al Ahly player Imam Ashour was minor and fully contained, noting that the player issued an official apology and the matter ended without any consequences.
Abdel Wahid stated on the Hat-trick program on On Sport 2 channel: “There was a small problem with Imam Ashour related to his injury, and during that period his performance was not at its best. He was then excluded before he made an official apology and the matter was completely resolved.”
The national team coach emphasized that currently there is no problem with any player in the team, contrary to some rumors, affirming that the technical staff deals with everyone based on clear standards of commitment, discipline, and technical performance only.
He continued: “Imam Ashour is one of the distinguished players, and we focus only on the team’s interest without paying attention to any rumors or external matters.”
Regarding Mostafa Mohamed, Abdel Wahid said there is no crisis as some showed; the camera caught a moment and then the player contacted Hossam Hassan and clarified the matter, ending the story.
Abdel Wahid praised Mohamed Salah, star of the Egyptian national team and Liverpool, as a leader in the team, highlighting his intervention in this specific matter and his efforts to resolve any disputes.
He confirmed that head coach Hossam Hassan has great tactical flexibility and deals with each match according to the nature of the opponent, noting that for the first time the team does not need points in the last match after securing early qualification.
Abdel Wahid said: “Joining the national team’s technical staff was a surprise for me because I was only working with clubs. I thank Captain Hossam Hassan and Captain Ibrahim Hassan for giving me this opportunity.”
He added: “Hossam Hassan is not a defensive coach who always wants to defend; he always likes the joker player who can play in more than one position, which gives him greater flexibility in managing matches.”
Regarding the exclusion of Abdullah Al-Saeed from the national team list, Abdel Wahid said: “The age average preferred by the technical staff was one of the main reasons for his exclusion, although he is performing well with Zamalek, but the decision was purely technical, and Hossam Hassan has no personal issues with any player.”
Abdel Wahid concluded his statements confirming that: “The team is currently stable in terms of its composition, and Abdullah Al-Saeed is out of the picture currently based on a technical vision related to the team’s needs.”
