The Egypt national football team camp witnessed a special atmosphere as the players organized an honorary guard of honor for their captain Mohamed Salah, in recognition of his recent achievement in the English Premier League, as part of the Pharaohs’ preparations to continue their journey in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Egypt tops Group A with 16 points from 6 matches, remaining undefeated and leading by 5 points over second-placed Burkina Faso. The Pharaohs have scored 14 goals and conceded only 2, putting them on the verge of qualifying for the World Cup hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The guard of honor celebrated Mohamed Salah after he was awarded the Premier League Player of the Season for 2024-2025 for the third time in his career. He also became the first player in the competition’s history to win the three major individual awards in a single season: PFA Player of the Year, the Golden Boot as top scorer with 29 goals, and the Playmaker Award with 18 assists.

Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Salah has accumulated 104 individual awards, cementing his name among the club and global football legends. This achievement reflects his status as one of the greatest players in Premier League history, combining scoring ability and playmaking in an exceptional season.

Egypt will host Ethiopia on September 5 at Cairo Stadium at 10 PM Cairo and Saudi time, before visiting Burkina Faso on September 9 at 7 PM, in two decisive matches in the African qualifiers for the World Cup.
