Engineer Hazem El Ashmony, Governor of Al Sharqia, received Fumio Iwai, the Japanese Ambassador to Cairo, to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation in various fields, reflecting President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s interest in strengthening and developing Egyptian-Japanese relations.
The governor emphasized the deep strategic relations between Egypt and Japan, based on a long history of fruitful partnership and cooperation across various fields and levels. He highlighted cooperation in technical education, expansion of Japanese schools across the governorates, the establishment of the Egyptian-Japanese Kozen Institute in 10th of Ramadan City, and the implementation of the Japanese Tokkatsu system in most schools, which contributed to graduating generations capable of contributing to nation-building.
The governor added that this September will witness the opening of the Egyptian-Japanese School in Minya El Qamh at a cost of 18.5 million Egyptian pounds, as part of the governorate’s national celebrations.
During the meeting, the governor reviewed the available investment opportunities within the governorate that can be utilized to enhance the Egyptian-Japanese partnership and establish new joint projects that contribute to advancing Egyptian industries, attracting more investments, and providing job opportunities for youth, amid the Egyptian government’s measures to provide an attractive investment environment and remove obstacles facing foreign investors, encouraging more Japanese companies to enter the Egyptian market.
He pointed out that the governorate has many industrial assets, including two industrial zones in 10th of Ramadan and New Salhia, in addition to the industrial areas of Belbeis and Zawamel, which are home to many factories and companies offering modern and advanced industries with skilled labor.
For his part, the Japanese ambassador expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the warm reception, affirming that the relationship between Egypt and Japan is diverse and extends to many different fields to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two governments and peoples, especially in investment and industry.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Japanese ambassador referred to his visit to the International Fish Center in Al Abbasa, Abu Hammad, expressing his happiness with the achievements made on Egyptian soil compared to many other countries, and confirming Japan’s keenness to push economic cooperation to higher levels to achieve the mutual interests of both countries.
