French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated Egypt on Monday for the real progress and decisive step following the signing of an agreement concerning Gaza. He also called for giving the Palestinian Authority its due status, emphasizing that the opportunity for a two-state solution must be preserved in the Gaza Strip.
He stressed the need to mobilize funding to rebuild the area and increase the aid shipments in the coming days, with dozens of trucks loaded with aid being sent daily.
Macron added that the role of the Americans is essential and welcomed Donald Trump’s participation in signing the agreement.
Upon arriving in Sharm El-Sheikh to participate in the peace summit, the French president said: “We appreciate Egypt’s role in establishing peace and stability in the region.”
Macron also stated: “France supports dialogue to promote peace in the region and focuses on the necessity of establishing an independent Palestinian state.”
