Lamis Assaf from Ramallah won an international award at one of the world’s most prestigious beauty platforms, marking a remarkable presence for Palestine by securing fourth place globally at the World Beauty Cup held in Paris, France, from September 13 to 15, 2023. She was awarded at the winners’ ceremony on the 15th of the month.
This achievement was the result of years of training, ambition, and determination, Assaf told Al-Quds newspaper.
Not only is Lamis a beauty expert and skincare trainer, but she also holds the title of an international judge at the World Beauty Cup. She is a member of the Palestinian beauty team and represented Palestine for the second consecutive time in this championship.
Assaf confirmed that her participation, as the only Arab woman, was through the Palestinian team under the umbrella of the World Organization of Models and Designers (OMC), with competition among 45 countries from various continents.
Before competing, Lamis underwent an intensive one-week training camp with the French team, where she received training on hairstyles and coloring according to international standards approved in the competition.
Amid a global team and extensive expertise, Lamis competed with high spirit and succeeded in achieving fourth place worldwide, along with earning international certificates and an accredited judging certificate.
She described the experience as challenging both professionally and financially, saying, “Participation was very costly, and the psychological and physical pressure was significant, but the professional benefit and experience we gained made all the effort worthwhile.”
Assaf emphasized that the competition was strong, but “raising the name of Palestine at this forum was the greatest motivation to continue and achieve an honorable result.”
Lamis’s ambition does not stop at participation or achieving a high ranking; she aspires to reach the top podium and win the World Cup in the name of Palestine, continuing to represent her country in future championships.
She said, “I want us to maintain Palestine’s presence in this competition and to be part of this representation for many years to come.”
She does not see the achievement as merely personal but considers it a professional responsibility and a message she seeks to convey to her students and the new generation interested in the beauty field.
“I aspire to continuously develop my skills and transfer the experience back to my country and everyone working in this field,” Lamis added.
She thanked the Palestinian beauty team for giving her the opportunity to join, participate, and represent Palestine.
“The trust I received was a gateway to personal development and opened new horizons in my profession,” she affirmed, stressing that what has been achieved is the beginning of a longer path she hopes will culminate in winning the World Beauty Cup for Palestine.
