The assembly of priests from Central Cairo churches held their regular meeting today at the Great Mar Girgis Church in Azbakeya, under the patronage and presence of His Grace Bishop Raphael, the general bishop of Central Cairo churches. This meeting is part of the church’s keenness to follow up on pastoral service and exchange spiritual experiences among the priests.
The meeting began with the Divine Liturgy, gathering the priests in a special spiritual atmosphere, where all prayed for the peace of the church and the service of its members. The attendees emphasized the importance of dedicating such meetings to deepen the spirit of fellowship and cooperation among the priests.
Father Daniel Nagib, priest of the Archangel Gabriel Church, delivered a spiritual talk titled “The Discourses of Saint John Cassian,” reviewing the spiritual and intellectual aspects that distinguished the saint and the importance of benefiting from his teachings in pastoral life and serving the believers. He stressed that the church is always called to be enlightened by the heritage of the fathers and saints in its spiritual journey.
Following the spiritual talk, the assembly discussed several arrangements related to pastoral service in the upcoming period, exchanging ideas and visions on how to develop the service and care for different groups within the church, emphasizing the priest’s role as a father and spiritual guide to his flock.
The meeting concluded with prayers for the success of the service, the unity of the church, and God’s blessing for the people of Central Cairo. The priests affirmed that these regular meetings represent an opportunity to renew the priestly spirit and activate joint work for a broader and deeper service to the church community.
