Timour Timour, a well-known Egyptian cinematographer, tragically drowned while trying to save his son from drowning during a summer vacation at the beaches of Ras El Hekma in Matrouh Governorate. The incident occurred in the tourist area of Sidi Hanish, where security authorities received a report of the drowning. His body was transferred to the morgue at Ras El Hekma Hospital for burial preparations, and investigations began with witness testimonies. According to a friend, Timour rushed to rescue his son who was drowning while swimming and successfully saved him, but then he drowned immediately after. The United Media Services Company mourned him in a statement expressing deep sorrow for the loss of one of Egypt’s prominent cinematographers, emphasizing that his artistic legacy will remain a testament to his talent and dedication to cinema and television.
The Actors Syndicate and several colleagues also expressed their shock at his passing, recalling his prolific career and noble character. Timour was a shining name in cinematography, having contributed to influential works in Egyptian and Arab drama and cinema, including the film “After the Battle” shown at the Cannes Festival, the film “The Seventh Sense” with Ahmed El Fishawy, and the TV series “The Imam’s Message” starring Khaled El Nabawy and directed by Laith Hajo, which was his last work before his death. Besides cinematography, he also acted in several roles in productions such as “The Seventh Sense,” “Red Lines,” “The University,” and “Ibrahim Al-Abyad.”
