The Jordanian Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan on August 31, 2024, approved several key decisions including public sector modernization, improving citizen services, and enhancing international cooperation.
First: Public Sector Modernization
The Cabinet approved the Information and Document Indexing and Classification System for 2025, aiming to professionally organize and preserve information, classify confidential and protected documents according to applicable laws, and enhance transparency and faster information sharing.
Second: Improving Citizen Services
The Cabinet approved the rationale for an amended Drivers Licensing System for 2025, unifying the validity periods of driving licenses across categories to ten years and requiring public transport and school transport drivers to obtain annual permits to ensure road safety.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved amendments to the electricity connection criteria under the ‘Rural Fils’ program to include installing solar cell systems connected to the grid for homes of martyrs of the Jordanian Armed Forces and security agencies, reflecting the state’s appreciation of their sacrifices and supporting their families by reducing electricity bills.
The Cabinet also approved allowing the Al-Twaiseh Charity Association to utilize the fifth Abu Al-Dhibaa government well in the Al-Deesa area to complete a fish farming project and produce some seasonal crops, providing local youth with job opportunities.
Third: International Cooperation
The Cabinet approved a memorandum of understanding to hold political consultations between the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Colombia, as well as a protocol on exchanging preliminary information about goods and vehicles crossing international borders between the Jordanian Customs Department and the Uzbek Customs Committee.
Moreover, the Cabinet decided to transfer Advisor Abdul Rahim Al-Waked to the position of Secretary-General of the Senate, appointed members to the National Cybersecurity Council, and appointed the chairman and members of the Securities Commission.
