Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan renewed his country’s support for the territorial integrity of Syria and the confrontation of threats to its stability.

This came during talks Erdogan held today with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit held in China, according to a statement from the Turkish Presidency’s Communications Directorate and Anadolu Agency.

The statement noted that Erdogan emphasized that Syria’s territorial integrity is “indispensable” for Turkey, and Ankara opposes any action aimed at creating chaos in Syria.

Furthermore, President Erdogan confirmed that Turkey will continue to coordinate with Pakistan to confront Israel’s attempts to expand genocidal policies in Gaza, pointing out that Turkey and Pakistan share the same stance against the extermination war being waged by Israel in Gaza.

In the same context, also on the sidelines of the Shanghai summit, Erdogan discussed with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping joint steps aimed at Syria’s renaissance.

It is worth noting that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an international political, economic, and security organization founded in 2001 in Shanghai, China, by the leaders of six Asian countries: China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. This year’s summit for 2025 is being held today and tomorrow in Tianjin, eastern China.
