Fermin Lopez, Barcelona’s midfield star, has put an end to speculation about his future, confirming his desire to stay at Camp Nou for as long as possible despite temptations from the English Premier League.

Lopez told the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”: “My goal is to continue with Barcelona and win all possible titles. I have received great support from my teammates and feel comfortable here, and my full focus is on helping the team.”

This stance comes after Chelsea made an official offer to sign the player for 50 million euros, but the 21-year-old Lopez seems determined to ignore external temptations, as his current contract with Barcelona runs until 2029.

Lopez’s confirmation of staying gives Barcelona’s management a strong morale boost, especially since he is considered one of the most promising talents capable of leading the club’s future project amid the financial crisis pushing Barca to let go of some of its big stars.
