German coach Hans Flick of FC Barcelona used the international break to analyze mistakes and devise a plan to get the Catalan team back on track after consecutive losses to Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla, affirming that there is still enough time to rectify the situation and achieve the desired goals.

According to the Catalan newspaper “Mundo Deportivo,” Flick, who rejects excuses, emphasized in his talk with the players the need to return to seriousness and hard work, pointing out that Barcelona cannot rely on its history or past achievements but must regain the fighting spirit that led them last season to win the domestic treble and reach the Champions League semifinals.

The German coach told his players before the break, “We must work hard and give our best in every training session and match; the path to titles is paved only by teamwork and discipline.”

Flick confirmed that the recent decline is mainly due to decreased focus and physical effort within the team, both in matches and training, which he aims to fix once the players return from their national team camps.

He also expressed confidence in his team’s ability to bounce back, noting that the points gap with Real Madrid in La Liga does not exceed two points, and the team’s position in the Champions League is similar to what it was at this time last season.

Although he refrained from blaming absences for the results, Flick admitted that injuries clearly affected the team’s performance, with several key players missing such as Raphinha, Ferran Torres, Lamine Yamal, in addition to Gavi who will be out long-term due to a serious injury, and Juan Garcia who will miss the upcoming Clasico.

Nevertheless, the German coach expects to regain the services of the trio Raphinha, Ferran, and Yamal after the break, which will provide new attacking options.

Flick is also considering limited tactical adjustments aimed at revitalizing the front line without abandoning the high-press philosophy he relies on.

Reports indicate he plans to give Marcus Rashford the role of a pure striker in some matches, with Raphinha returning to the left side, while Lewandowski will serve as an impactful substitute striker entering at crucial moments.

Meanwhile, Flick focused on strengthening team unity in the dressing room, stressing that acknowledging mistakes is the first step toward improvement.

Several players, including Pedri, Kobarzi, and Szczesny, have shown readiness to take responsibility and correct the course, which the coach considers a positive sign of the team’s desire for a strong comeback.

Despite his great confidence in the current squad, Flick has not ruled out reinforcing the team in the winter transfer market, especially in the left center-back position, which suffers from a clear void.

The coach is working with sporting director Deco to study available options, whether by signing a defender or a new striker if needed.
