Yesterday marked two years since the United Arab Emirates announced the launch of the “Compassion for Gaza” campaign, which was the first of many continuous UAE efforts and initiatives since October 2023 to aid the Palestinian brothers affected by the war in the Gaza Strip and to mitigate its humanitarian consequences.

For two full years, the UAE has led persistent diplomatic movements and efforts at regional and international levels to end the war in Gaza, rally the greatest international support to stop the Israeli aggression on the Strip, declare the “two-state solution,” and provide urgent humanitarian aid without obstacles.

According to all global relief organizations, the UAE has been the largest donor of humanitarian aid in Gaza; its aid accounted for 44% of the total international assistance received by the Strip, according to UN reports. The UAE successfully secured the continuity of humanitarian and relief support to Gaza through “Operation Noble Knight 3” via land, sea, and air routes. The total humanitarian aid provided since the start of the operation until September 14 exceeded 90,000 tons, costing 1.8 billion dollars.

The UAE’s humanitarian convoys have not stopped, carrying out 81 air drops during which more than 4,076 tons of food aid and essential supplies were delivered to Gaza as part of “Birds of Goodness” operation.

The UAE provided significant assistance to the health sector inside Gaza, helping it avoid total collapse and permanent shutdown. It also transferred critical medical cases to its territory for treatment and care under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to treat 1,000 Palestinian wounded children and 1,000 cancer patients. The total number of patients and companions transferred to the UAE reached about 2,785 people.

Palestine, and Gaza specifically, have been daily present in the UAE’s conscience. Not a single day passed in the past two years, nor in all previous days and years, without directives or decisions related to Palestine and its people, whether within the discussions of His Highness the President, meetings of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, or through UAE charitable institutions, providing support and assistance.

Palestine has not been absent from the UAE’s conscience over the past two years, as in previous decades, and will not be absent in the coming days and years, remaining a support, brother, and supporter by its side.
