Flydubai has opened registration for its Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Training Program, inviting UAE high school graduates to apply starting September 2025.

The fully sponsored, four-year program is part of the UAE’s national talent development initiative, overseen by Flydubai’s Maintenance and Engineering Department. It is designed to equip Emirati youth with the technical skills and practical experience needed for a distinguished career in aviation.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to become certified engineers and technicians at Flydubai, accredited by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

Skills Development

Nasser bin Kharbash, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Flydubai, said: “We are committed to investing in the development of Emirati talent and creating opportunities for the next generation to build long-term careers in aviation. Our CAR 147 certification from the GCAA enables us to operate internal training and certification programs in maintenance and engineering, contributing to building a qualified national workforce to support our ambitious growth plans.”

Admission Criteria

The training program is open to UAE nationals aged 17 to 24 who meet the admission criteria. Participants will undergo intensive theoretical and practical training at Flydubai’s training facilities for up to four years.

Students who successfully complete the theoretical training and meet the required standards will progress to the next phase as aircraft technician trainees at Flydubai, gaining hands-on experience with operational aircraft and career advancement opportunities. Upon completing the program, they will be eligible to apply for an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License (AMEL) from the GCAA and secure positions as certified aircraft technicians with the company.

Bin Kharbash added: “The experience of the first batch confirmed the importance of this initiative in bridging the gap between education and industry. With the new batch, we look forward to welcoming passionate trainees in engineering and innovation who will contribute to supporting Flydubai’s ambitious plans and its growing fleet.”

Flydubai continues to invest in initiatives supporting the professional development of UAE nationals, including the new Multi-Crew Pilot License (MPL) training program, the cadet pilot program, and a wide range of training and employment opportunities. These initiatives will enhance the company’s strategic plans and create promising career paths for skilled local talent.
