Social media users shared spontaneous clips from a concert in Jordan featuring the Syrian actor Samer Al-Masri singing alongside Egyptian singer Hani Shaker and Lebanese singer Mohamed Fadel Shaker. The videos captured Al-Masri, famous for his role as ‘Al-Akeed Abu Shahab’ in the drama series ‘Bab Al-Hara’, performing the song ‘Asaheb Meen’ with Fadel Shaker, and also singing Fadel Shaker’s song ‘Law Ala Albi’ with Fadel’s son Mohamed Shaker. Al-Masri made sure to pay tribute to Fadel Shaker by mentioning him in the song, altering some lyrics to say he is always on his mind. The concert also featured Egyptian singer Mahmoud El Esseily, who performed several of his songs. It is noted that Al-Masri starred in the early seasons of ‘Bab Al-Hara’ before being excluded from seasons four and five in 2009 by the late Syrian director Bassam Al-Malla, citing inappropriate behavior outside work.
Al-Masri responded by calling the director an ‘obscure dictator’ jealous of his stardom.
