Reports have revealed that Apple is working on its first foldable iPhone, likely to be released next year. A new report by analyst Jeff Pu details what can be expected about the material of this highly anticipated mysterious iPhone.

According to Phone Arena, Jeff Pu believes Apple will use a combination of titanium and aluminum in the device. A previous Bloomberg report suggested the device might resemble “two titanium iPhone Airs side by side.”

In a note to investors, Pu says the phone’s metal frame will use the two metals mentioned above as a hybrid, which is all the analyst currently indicates about the highly anticipated iPhone design.

Previously, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the foldable iPhone’s hinge would combine stainless steel and titanium, while the exterior body might use titanium only, contradicting Pu’s report.

Meanwhile, Apple currently uses only titanium in the iPhone Air, and previous iPhone Pro models had titanium frames, but this year they were replaced with aluminum to improve thermal performance.

Rumors suggest Apple’s first foldable iPhone will be book-shaped with a 5.5-inch external screen and a 7.8-inch internal screen, meaning the external screen might be similar to the iPhone Mini’s display, while the foldable screen could be similar in size to the iPad Mini.

Kuo also said earlier that the iPhone might not have Face ID but will use Touch ID for authentication. Meanwhile, Bloomberg claimed that iOS 27, the operating system for next year’s iPhones, will heavily focus on improving software for the first foldable iPhone, including foldable phone features.
