According to Shin Bet, explosive drones were targeting the Israeli right-wing minister.

The Israeli internal security service, Shin Bet, announced it thwarted a Hamas cell planning to assassinate National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir using explosive drones.

According to the statement, Israeli security forces and the army carried out the operation in the Hebron area over the past few weeks. Ongoing investigations reveal that the suspects arrested were receiving instructions from Hamas operatives in Turkey, and the suspects remain under investigation.

Shin Bet said: “Shin Bet will continue to thwart every attempt by Hamas to promote terrorist activity against the State of Israel and its citizens and will prosecute those involved in such activities.”

Ben Gvir Thanks Security Forces

Following Shin Bet’s announcement, Ben Gvir said: “I thank the acting head of Shin Bet, the investigators and members of the agency, intelligence officers of the Israeli Prison Service, members of the Magin unit, Israeli army soldiers, Israeli police officers, and everyone working to protect my life.”

He added: “I will not back down or be afraid! Hamas has tried to assassinate me five times, and each time they failed.”

He concluded: “Let the terrorists know: instead of harming me, we will strike them anywhere and anytime.”

It is worth noting that in July, Israeli broadcasting reported that police and Shin Bet arrested a woman from central Israel suspected of communicating with others to target Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israeli police said the woman planned to carry out the attack using an explosive device.

In September last year, the Israeli news site Walla reported the arrest of an Israeli citizen suspected of dealing with Iran and planning to assassinate Netanyahu and other officials.
