Jordan’s King Abdullah II renewed his call to the international community to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East, restore regional security and stability, stop the war in Gaza, end the humanitarian disaster, halt attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and reject any attempts to occupy or annex lands in Gaza or the West Bank and displace Palestinians. This came during his talks in Samarkand with Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields. King Abdullah praised the 32-year political relations between Jordan and Uzbekistan and described the visit as the start of a new chapter in distinguished relations, emphasizing opportunities in economic and military fields. Mirziyoyev welcomed the King’s first visit to Uzbekistan, appreciating the republic’s heritage and people, and praised the King’s commitment to interfaith dialogue and regional stability.

During the meeting, nine cooperation agreements and protocols and three memoranda of understanding were exchanged in higher education, tourism, visa exemptions, investment, customs, agriculture, air services, religious affairs, extradition, and standards. King Abdullah awarded President Mirziyoyev the Order of Renaissance in recognition of his efforts to enhance bilateral relations. The King arrived in Uzbekistan on Monday for a state visit, followed by an official visit to Kazakhstan.
