Matar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the RTA, emphasized the commitment to participate in GITEX Global by presenting a comprehensive package of smart projects and initiatives that reflect the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world. He pointed out that the RTA’s participation confirms its commitment to adopting the latest digital technologies and AI applications and enhancing digital transformation across all its services, contributing to increasing operational efficiency, improving customer journeys, elevating the quality of life for residents and visitors, and developing innovative solutions for sustainable mobility.
He said, “The RTA works according to an integrated strategy and plan for digital and smart transformation, focusing on leveraging emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, big data, and predictive solutions, aiming to provide proactive and integrated services that support the quality of life in Dubai and consolidate its position as a global center for innovation in future technologies. This is part of the RTA’s AI Strategy 2030 to be a global leader in AI-enhanced mobility by enabling an integrated and interconnected system that improves quality of life in Dubai.”
He explained that this year’s participation focuses on showcasing a wide range of smart projects representing a qualitative leap in the RTA’s digital transformation journey, including AI applications, predictive solutions based on big data analysis, and the use of IoT in asset and infrastructure management. The participation also aims to engage with strategic partners and explore the latest global innovations to enhance the RTA’s ability to innovate future solutions in the transport and mobility sector.
Smart Vehicle Network
The Smart Vehicle Network (UTC-UX Fusion) embodies the RTA’s leadership in transitioning to AI-supported traffic systems and is one of the most advanced traffic management solutions in the region.
This integrated system is the key element in operating traffic signals in Dubai. It was developed and operated at the Dubai Smart Traffic Systems Center to enable predictive traffic control relying on AI and real-time data analysis. The system supports multimodal mobility and uses the “C-ITS” technology for data exchange between vehicles and connected infrastructure, enhancing the smart driving experience and granting real-time priority crossing for road users. The system has contributed to reducing delay times by 25% and cutting operational costs by 20% to 30%, confirming Dubai’s efficiency in employing future technologies for a smarter and more sustainable city.
AutoCheck360
The AutoCheck360 vehicle inspection system is a model of government innovation and proactivity in applying AI in operational services. It is an integrated smart system relying on computer vision and IoT to reduce human errors and unify inspection standards with unprecedented accuracy. The system can reduce inspection time from 17 minutes to 7 minutes, contributing to service efficiency, improving customer journeys, and enhancing road safety. It is among the first integrated smart solutions of its kind in the region for automated vehicle inspection, confirming Dubai’s leadership in technological innovation serving people and society.
Air Taxi
The Air Taxi (Joby S4) features vertical takeoff and landing capability. The company has started trial operations to test the vehicle in the local environment in preparation for launching a commercial service within the city. The taxi will provide a new distinguished service for Dubai residents and visitors seeking easy, fast, and safe transportation to several vital locations in Dubai. The trip from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah is expected to take about 10 minutes compared to approximately 45 minutes by car. The service also enhances integration with various public transport modes and individual mobility means such as electric scooters and bicycles, facilitating multimodal transport, improving city connectivity, and providing a smooth passenger journey.
Smart Transport Platform for Safe Cities
The RTA developed the Smart Transport Platform for Safe Cities, a centralized system supported by IoT and AI technologies to monitor and manage commercial transport of all types, including delivery bikes, school buses, and commercial transport activities. The platform analyzes data from IoT devices regarding speed, route adherence, and driver behavior, while AI analyzes this data to detect unsafe practices and take immediate corrective actions. The platform also includes a predictive data engine analyzing traffic flow to enhance operational efficiency and public safety. This platform represents a qualitative leap toward data-driven smart transport governance in Dubai.
Trackless Tram
The Trackless Tram project highlights the RTA’s leadership in envisioning the future of smart public transport. It is a proactive innovation in autonomous transport systems.
The system operates without fixed tracks, utilizing optical navigation, GPS, and LiDAR technology to track virtual routes with high accuracy. The project relies on AI to detect obstacles and automatically steer the vehicle, providing high operational flexibility and exceptional traffic flow smoothness.
This innovation represents a qualitative leap toward a sustainable and flexible transport system that integrates efficiently and safely with city traffic, with lower operating costs than traditional tram systems.
The RTA also enhances its leadership in smart infrastructure through the Safe Rail System (ARIIS), an innovative system used for rail inspection and maintenance via mobile devices relying on laser scanning and computer vision to detect defects with microscopic accuracy.
This system is the first of its kind in the region using smart analytics to provide data-driven recommendations, which helped reduce inspection time by 70% and raise safety and smoothness standards in Dubai Metro operations. It represents an advanced step toward proactive asset management in transport using data and smart analytics.
During its participation in GITEX Global 2025, the RTA showcases developments in its integrated digital ecosystem, foremost among them the “Suhail” app, a unified digital mobility channel in Dubai that exemplifies a pioneering model in unified travel, providing access to all public and private transport modes on one platform, including trip planning and taxi booking.
The RTA also highlights its smart “RTA Dubai” app, one of the most comprehensive government smart apps.
