A global undercover investigative team of journalists from 30 media outlets revealed that Tal Hanan, a former Israeli special forces agent known as “Jorge,” is the mastermind behind a highly secretive international hacking group. Hanan and his “Jorge Team” are accused of manipulating over 30 election campaigns worldwide using hacking, disinformation, and fake news on social media. Leaked videos show the team explaining their methods for gathering sensitive information on political opponents and planting misleading content in newsrooms, amplified by advanced software. Their clients include intelligence agencies, political campaigns, and private companies, charging fees between 6 and 15 million euros, accepting cryptocurrency payments. Hanan claimed his team influenced 27 out of 33 elections they participated in. Journalists traced his real identity through links to Cambridge Analytica and discovered he is CEO of the Israeli company “Demoman,” specializing in cybersecurity training and intelligence operations.
This revelation is a major blow to global disinformation networks, exposing a secretive operation influencing public opinion worldwide and raising concerns about the rise of targeted cyber operations in international politics.
