Egyptian artist Sherine Abdel Wahab has reconciled with her lawyer Yasser Kantoush, affirming that their recent conflict was merely a passing misunderstanding following the legal drama that ensued after news of her return to artist Hossam Habib.

Abdel Wahab shared an official statement on her verified Instagram account, saying: “I want to clarify to my beloved audience that what happened between me and Counselor Yasser Kantoush was just a passing misunderstanding that normally happens between siblings. Mr. Yasser is a brother and a friend, and one of the people who cares deeply about my interests and is keen on restoring my rights with honesty and conscience.”

She added: “Therefore, I cannot cancel my power of attorney with him. Sometimes differences in opinion cause minor disputes that we can resolve, and that is exactly what happened. I want to say that Mr. Yasser was and will remain my personal lawyer, and I do not have any other lawyer.”

Public Legal Battle with Sherine Abdel Wahab’s Lawyer

The case of Abdel Wahab’s return to Hossam Habib witnessed dramatic developments following her initial statement, her brother’s involvement, and then his withdrawal.

Kantoush issued a statement announcing “her return to a person who is destroying her,” calling for intervention to protect her, before announcing his withdrawal from legally representing her.

Sherine responded in an audio recording saying: “From this moment, you are no longer my personal lawyer. I will hold you accountable if you speak about me in any positive or negative way, even if you make any joke about me.”

Habib strongly responded to Kantoush’s statement, announcing his intention to take legal action against him. He said in a statement: “In light of the recent circulation of false statements attributed to me by the so-called Yasser Kantoush, the former lawyer of artist Sherine Abdel Wahab, I announce that I have started taking all necessary legal measures against him and anyone who uses or promotes inaccurate or false statements that harm my reputation, to protect my legal and personal interests.”
