Polish player Iga Swiatek, Wimbledon champion, defeated Colombian Camila Osorio to advance to the fourth round of the China Open on Monday, achieving her 400th career win.
Swiatek, who became the first player to record 25 or more wins in Masters 1000 tournaments for three consecutive seasons after winning two straight sets against Yuan Yue in the third round, showed no signs of slowing down as she dominated Osorio 6-0 in the first set before Osorio retired in the opening game of the second set.
Swiatek, the top seed in the tournament and recent winner of the Korea Open in Seoul last week, has won four French Open titles and one US Open title among her six Grand Slam singles titles. She will face American Emma Navarro in the next round.
In other matches, Russian Mira Andreeva defeated Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 6-4, 6-1, and Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk beat Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-4, 6-2. Navarro was leading France’s Louis Boyzon 6-2, 1-0 when the French player retired.
American Jessica Pegula also defeated Britain’s Emma Raducanu 6-3, 6-7, 6-0, and Russian Anastasia Potapova won against Turkey’s Zeynep Sönmez 6-3, 7-5.
