Al Ahly secured the Cairo derby with a 2-1 victory over Zamalek on Monday, during the ninth round of the Egyptian Premier League.
Zamalek took the lead through Hossam Abdel Meguid with a penalty in the 32nd minute, while Hussein El Shahat equalized for Al Ahly in the 72nd minute.
In the 78th minute, Mahmoud Hassan (Trezeguet) scored the second goal for Al Ahly from a penalty kick.
Al Ahly raised its points to 15 from 8 matches, placing third, two points behind Zamalek, who leads the league after 9 matches.
Al Ahly is just two points behind Zamalek at the top of the standings after nine rounds.
