A ship designated for journalists and doctors is preparing to sail to the Gaza Strip by October 1st, according to the International Committee to Break the Siege on Gaza.

The committee, which operates the Global Steadfast Fleet approaching the Strip, said the new boat will carry more than 100 international journalists amid Israel’s ban on foreign reporters entering the area, as well as doctors and medical personnel.

While countries and press advocacy organizations have called for allowing international journalists into Gaza since the war began nearly two years ago, the world has relied on Palestinian journalists to report on the situation, despite their continued direct targeting by Israel in an effort to silence their voices.

To date, the Gaza government’s media office has recorded the martyrdom of 252 Palestinian journalists since the start of the Israeli genocidal war on the Strip.

The organizers confirmed that this step represents a new and different approach to confronting the Israeli siege, emphasizing the crucial role of both the press and doctors in highlighting the tragic humanitarian conditions in Gaza.

The Global Steadfast Fleet, which set sail last July, continues its voyage. Its organizers announced Monday morning that the ships will reach Gaza after covering 570 kilometers, with expectations to arrive on September 30th. The fleet also announced the departure of 8 new ships from Italy.

The fleet includes about 50 ships that departed from the Greek coasts, marking the largest collective attempt so far to break the 18-year blockade imposed on Gaza.

More than 500 activists from 40 countries participate in the global fleet as part of a coalition including the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, the Global Gaza Movement, and the Steadfast Convoy.

This comes amid Israeli preparations, revealed by Hebrew media, to carry out a military operation to seize the fleet’s ships.

Israel’s official Kan channel reported that a special forces unit (commandos) from the Israeli navy conducted field exercises in recent days in preparation to “take control of the ships at sea,” while the Walla website stated that the Israeli Ministry of Health raised alert levels in several hospitals in anticipation of possible injuries resulting from potential confrontations with the fleet.
