US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee described British Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson as “delusional” for claiming that the United Kingdom played a “key role” in securing the ceasefire in Gaza.

The minister had earlier defended Britain’s contribution to behind-the-scenes peace efforts on Sunday, while acknowledging that the “decisive” work was carried out by the White House, according to the UK-based PA Media agency.

Huckabee, who was part of President Donald Trump’s peace negotiation team, appeared to mock Phillipson’s assertion in a social media post.

He wrote on the X platform: “I assure you she is delusional. She can thank Donald Trump anytime just to set the record straight.”

British government sources did not directly comment on Huckabee’s remarks but pointed out that Phillipson also highlighted America’s leading role in securing the deal during media rounds.

The public dispute involving two senior figures in the British and American administrations may embarrass British Prime Minister Keir Starmer as he prepares to join world leaders at the Gaza summit co-chaired by Trump on Monday.
