If you ever happen to own a robotics company, the good news is that you will have the opportunity to use the world’s latest technologies and showcase them to potential consumers, just like Figure AI’s CEO, Brett Adcock, who shared the capabilities of the company’s latest humanoid robot, Figure 02, on X. The video showed the humanoid robot picking clothes from a basket and placing them in the washing machine. It cannot operate the washing machine entirely on its own yet, but even this is a big step towards automation.

Earlier in February this year, Figure unveiled its comprehensive model “Helix,” a vision, language, and action (VLA) model that unifies human perception, language, and understanding. “Helix” is the mastermind behind this robot, according to Interesting Engineering.

“Helix” offers an innovative approach to controlling upper body movement and can operate two robots simultaneously, enabling cooperation between multiple robots. In the same context, Adcock also shared another video showing Figure 02 performing the same task in an office, noting they have been doing the same thing for over a month. He wrote on his X account: “It’s exciting to see Helix working in real homes.”

This is not the first humanoid robot of its kind preparing to perform manual tasks. 1X Technologies is developing the Neo Gamma robot, which also has similar capabilities such as object manipulation and human-like movements, designed for home use.

Boston Dynamics, a leading company in this field, has the Atlas system designed for industrial use. Figure 02 also falls into the same category; however, Adcock and his partners are keen to use it domestically as well, with plans to conduct trials in home settings this year.
