The Ministry of Interior announced strict measures against deviant groups.

The Director of Relations and Media at the Interior Ministry, Brigadier General Miqdad Miri, stated yesterday that the ministry has made significant progress in combating deviant groups by assigning several agencies, especially intelligence services. He confirmed that the ministry is seriously following this file, having arrested the leaders of these groups, and efforts continue to track many others.

He added that deviant phenomena have declined, but serious work continues on this issue by the Ministry of Interior, National Security, intelligence, and other agencies. He pointed out that these groups aim to destroy the fabric of society and work to create a negative atmosphere.

In Kirkuk, the director of Al-Tun Kubri subdistrict, Abdulmutallab Najm al-Din, confirmed the detection of movements of armed elements suspected to belong to ISIS in one of the villages under the subdistrict.

Najm al-Din explained that information from the residents of Darmaneh village, near Shuwan subdistrict, indicated that about six armed men entered a house in the village, where they asked the locals for food and drink before withdrawing from the area. He noted that security forces immediately received the report, opened an investigation, and conducted search and combing operations to monitor any potential activity of these terrorist groups.

Earlier, the International Coalition reported the arrest of two prominent ISIS members during a special security operation in Kirkuk.
