Novak Djokovic advanced to the US Open tennis semifinals by defeating Fritz to face Alcaraz.

Novak Djokovic reaffirmed his dominance over fourth seed Taylor Fritz by beating him 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 on Tuesday to set up an exciting semifinal clash with Carlos Alcaraz at the US Open.

The Serbian player arrived at Arthur Ashe Stadium after having won all ten previous encounters against Fritz, though he had to fight hard at times to overcome last year’s runner-up and stay on track for his 25th Grand Slam title.

After a strong start, Djokovic faced intense pressure in the ninth game of the match, saving five break points to close out the opening set in his favor.

Eventually, Fritz broke Djokovic’s serve on his 11th attempt, being the last American player still competing in the tournament, but he failed to capitalize fully and soon found himself two sets behind.

The American showed great determination to win the third set by improving his serve, but that was all from him.

Djokovic maintained his 5-4 lead in the fourth set, missed two match points in the next game before winning it, extending his record to 16 wins without defeat against American players at the US Open.
