The University of Bahrain has achieved a significant milestone by entering the Times Higher Education World University Rankings among the top universities globally for the first time since its establishment in 1986, becoming the first local and national university to enter the Times global ranking.
On this occasion, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the University of Bahrain Board of Trustees, expressed his deepest gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the esteemed King of Bahrain, and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the support and care provided to the educational journey in the kingdom, which enabled the University of Bahrain to enter this internationally recognized ranking by one of the leading institutions specializing in ranking and analyzing the performance of higher education institutions, the Times Higher Education.
The Minister of Education confirmed that the University of Bahrain Board of Trustees has set the necessary academic and research plans, policies, and executive procedures to achieve this goal as a first stage, which is entering this international ranking for the first time, and then working gradually to advance to better ranks within this ranking according to a well-studied plan, aiming to elevate the university to higher levels in the future. He also thanked the academic and administrative staff for their efforts during the past period, as well as the Secretariat General of the Higher Education Council for its diligent follow-up in achieving this accomplishment.
It is worth noting that the Times Higher Education ranking is one of the most prominent global university rankings, widely used to evaluate the quality of academic institutions worldwide. It aims to provide a comprehensive assessment of universities’ performance in various academic and research fields and is relied upon by universities to improve their performance and identify strengths and weaknesses. It is also considered a reference for government bodies and funders in supporting higher education.
