Arab and Western countries welcomed US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his support for it, amid silence from Hamas and rejection from the Islamic Jihad movement, which described it as a “recipe for regional explosion.”

Foreign ministers from Qatar, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia expressed their support for “the leadership role of the US President and his sincere efforts to end the war in Gaza and intensify efforts to find a path to peace,” according to AFP.

The ministers emphasized “the importance of partnership with the United States in consolidating peace in the region,” welcoming Trump’s proposal which includes “ending the war, rebuilding Gaza, preventing the displacement of the Palestinian people, advancing comprehensive peace, and not allowing the annexation of the West Bank,” confirming their readiness to cooperate positively with Washington to make the agreement successful.

European Council President Antonio Costa considered the plan a “real opportunity to give peace a chance.”

Costa described Netanyahu’s response on X platform as “encouraging,” saying “the situation in Gaza is unbearable.. hostilities must stop, and all hostages must be released immediately.”

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen welcomed Trump’s peace proposal on Tuesday, aiming to end the nearly two-year war in Gaza.

She said on X platform: “I welcome President Donald Trump’s commitment to ending the war in Gaza. I encourage all parties to seize this opportunity now. The European Union is ready to contribute.”

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed his country’s “strong support” for Trump’s plan, emphasizing “ending fighting, releasing hostages, and ensuring aid delivery.”

Former Prime Minister Tony Blair described the plan as “bold and smart,” noting it could “end the war and give Gaza’s residents a better future.”

According to the plan, Blair will be a member of the “Peace Management Council” chaired by Trump to oversee the transitional phase in Gaza.

French President Emmanuel Macron said on X platform: “I hope for a decisive Israeli commitment on this basis. Hamas has no choice but to immediately release all hostages and commit to this plan,” stressing the proposal allows “in-depth discussion with partners to build lasting peace in the region.”

According to Sky News Arabia, the French Foreign Ministry also expressed readiness to work on implementing the plan with Washington, Tel Aviv, the Palestinian Authority, and “all international partners who met in New York.”

The French Foreign Ministry called on Gaza conflict parties to adopt Trump’s plan immediately to end the war and open prospects for peace and collective security.

The Italian government described the plan as “ambitious” and a “possible turning point,” urging all parties to “seize this opportunity and approve it.”

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said the plan “offers a unique opportunity to end the horrific war in Gaza,” noting it gives “hope to hundreds of thousands suffering from fighting and the humanitarian crisis.”

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz welcomed Trump’s peace plans for Gaza, describing them as the best chance to end the war there, saying: “We are ready to make a tangible contribution to implementing Trump’s plan.”
