The round of 16 matches at the Qatar Classic Squash Championship conclude today, Tuesday, in Doha, the capital city. The tournament runs from September 28 to October 4, with prize money totaling $205,000 for men and the same amount for women, placing it in the Platinum category, the second highest tier in squash tournaments.
The championship features 24 Egyptian players after the withdrawal of the Egyptian world number one female player, Nouran Gohar, for personal reasons before the competition began.
Nine male players are competing: Mostafa Asal, Ali Abu Einin, Youssef Suleiman, Karim Abdel Gawad, Fares Dessouky, Youssef Ibrahim, Mohamed Zakaria, Mohamed Abouelghar, and Mazen Hesham.
Fifteen female players are competing: Hania El Hammamy, Nada Abbas, Nadine Shahin, Zeina Mikawi, Hana Ramadan, Kenzy Ayman, Amina Orfi, Farida Mohamed, Nour Abou El Makarem, Mariam Metwally, Feroze Abou El Khair, Nour Heikal, Hana Moataz, Sana Ibrahim, and Nour El Sherbini.
Egyptian player Nour El Sherbini, ranked third in the world, holds the title from the last edition that included both men and women in 2024. The Peruvian Diego Elias won the men’s title at that time.
