The match between United and City, held at Dubai Sports City Stadium the day before yesterday in the second round of the First Division football league, witnessed a rare spectator attendance for amateur stadiums, estimated at about 2,500 fans. Their attention was focused on the technical area of the United squad led by Italian football legend, coach Andrea Pirlo, who was contracted by the club’s management at the start of the current season and is delivering strong performances that will contribute to increasing the crowd numbers in upcoming matches.
Fans rushed after the matches to take commemorative photos with the legend, who had previously amazed the world with his skills playing for the Italian national team, AC Milan, and Juventus, bringing joy to fans in European stadiums.
The second round recorded the second victories for the teams United, Emirates, Dibba Al-Hisn, Al-Arabi, and Al-Hamriyah, earning full points (six points) in a long journey towards promotion to the ranks of ADNOC Pro League clubs. Meanwhile, the clubs Al-Orouba, City, Majd, Al-Dhaid, Al-Ittifaq, and Al-Jazira Al-Hamra remain without points.
The last round’s matches resulted in Dibba Al-Hisn defeating Al-Jazira Al-Hamra 4-0, Emirates beating Majd 3-2, Al-Hamriyah winning over Masfout 2-0, Gulf United defeating Al-Dhaid by the same score, Al-Arabi winning against Al-Ittifaq (3-1), United beating City with a clean goal, while Hatta drew with Fujairah 2-2.
“Emarat Al-Youm” highlights notable scenes from the second round, alongside the large spectator attendance at the United vs City match, as follows:
Best Offense and Defense
Dibba Al-Hisn team, which was relegated from the ADNOC Pro League last season, achieved a strong start by scoring six goals without conceding any, becoming the best in offense and defense.
Return of the “Falcons”
The Emirates team, known as the “Falcons,” made a strong comeback by recording their second victory in the First Division by defeating Majd 3-2, unlike their weak start last season. They caught attention with their determination to win through a “remontada” that enabled them to collect full points.
Teixeira.. “Hat-trick” and Leading Scorer
Emirates club player, Brazilian Fabio Teixeira, scored the first “hat-trick” of the current First Division season in his match against Majd, leading the top scorers’ chart with three goals, followed by six players each with two goals.
Al-Hammadi’s Goal.. The Most Beautiful
Former national team player and current Al-Hamriyah player, Ismail Al-Hammadi, scored a magnificent goal by volleying the ball into Majd’s net from a difficult position resembling many of his previous beautiful goals, considered the most beautiful goal of the current season.
Red Card
The last round witnessed Al-Dhaid club player Khaled Al-Shaibani receiving a red card, the first dismissal case in the current First Division season, in addition to 11 yellow cards over two rounds, a rare number compared to previous seasons.
