Hussein Fahmy, the Egyptian artist and president of the Cairo International Film Festival, expressed his great happiness about the remarkable participation of Saudi films in the 46th edition of the festival, scheduled to be held from November 12 to 21, 2025.

In a special statement to Okaz, Fahmy said he feels proud and happy about the cultural and artistic development witnessed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in recent years, affirming that the large number of Saudi films participating in the festival this year reflects this prosperity.

He added, “We are always pleased to have works from various Arab countries participate, as the Cairo International Film Festival opens its doors to all distinguished creative experiences that enrich the Arab cinematic scene.”

Hussein Fahmy commented on the controversy surrounding the preliminary poster of the 46th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival, explaining that the official version will be released within the next two days.

Fahmy clarified that what happened was just a misunderstanding in the choice of some colors and visual details, so the festival administration decided to change the poster to better express the artistic identity of the festival.

It is worth mentioning that the administration of the 46th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival announced honoring the artist Khaled El Nabawy with the Faten Hamama Award for Excellence, in recognition of his long cinematic career. Several stars will also be honored with the Golden Pyramid Award, including Egyptian director Mohamed Abdel Aziz and cinematographer Mahmoud Abdel Samie, among other icons of Egyptian cinema.
