Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia has announced he will miss the highly anticipated ‘El Clásico’ against Real Madrid, scheduled for October 26 as part of the Spanish league competition.

Garcia underwent surgery on the cartilage of his left knee on September 27. In a statement to Movistar channel, he confirmed his recovery is going well, but he still needs about a month before returning to the field.

According to press reports, Barcelona coach Hans Flick is expected to rely on Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny for the match against Real Madrid.

Real Madrid currently leads the La Liga standings with 21 points, two points ahead of second-placed Barcelona.
