Fear spread among Manchester United football fans over the continuation of the club’s poor results after a widely circulated video of the new goalkeeper Sen Laminez.

Laminez transferred from Belgian club Royal Antwerp to Old Trafford on the last day of the summer transfer window, which closed last Monday.

The 23-year-old Laminez signed a contract with Manchester United worth £18.5 million, plus £3.5 million in add-ons.

The contract with the Belgian goalkeeper, who has never played internationally, is for five years with the team nicknamed the Red Devils.

However, some fans are panicking over United’s decision to sign him instead of the Argentine international Emiliano Martinez, Aston Villa’s goalkeeper, after watching some of the young keeper’s worst moments.

A video of Laminez playing with Antwerp on social media platform X showed the goalkeeper failing to stop several goals that went into his net.

One clip showed Laminez running out of position as a cross passed over him, leaving the goal wide open for the opposing team, while another clip showed him failing to dive low to stop a close-range shot.

Manchester United fans reacted to the clips, expressing their fears for the club’s future.

The official website of the British newspaper The Sun shared fans’ comments on social media, with one writing, “He is the second version of Andre Onana,” referring to the modest level shown by the Cameroonian goalkeeper at the start of this season.

Another wrote, “He is an updated version of Andre Onana,” while a third fan commented, “How did they sign this man instead of the World Cup winner?”

A fourth said, “Relegation is coming,” while another added, “This man is Onana Pro Max.”

However, some fans remained calm, noting that Laminez did not concede many goals in the video, and one even shared another video of the goalkeeper’s highlights during his time at Antwerp.

In that video, the new United goalkeeper was seen making several important saves.

So far, Laminez has played only four matches this season but has not kept a clean sheet in any of them.

Manchester United currently ranks ninth in the English Premier League table this season with 4 points after playing their first three matches in the new season.

United started the competition with a 1-0 loss to Arsenal at home, then drew 1-1 with Fulham away, and narrowly won 3-2 against Burnley at home. They were eliminated from the English Football League Cup after losing on penalties to Grimsby, a League Two team, in a major upset.
