Gamal Abdel Hamid, former Egyptian football star, confirmed that leaking news currently about the possible departure of Pyramids coach Yorsitch before the Al Ahly match could definitely affect the coach ahead of the anticipated encounter, noting that his motivations might have recently declined. Abdel Hamid stated on the ‘Plus 90’ program on Al-Nahar channel: ‘Al Ahly drew 0-0 with Ghazl El Mahalla after missing many clear chances; the ball hit the post and crossbar, and players like Zizo and Gradishar missed confirmed opportunities. Despite Ghazl’s defensive caution, the main reason for the goalless draw was the lack of luck.’ He added: ‘Ghazl El Mahalla players gave their best to achieve a positive result against Al Ahly, helped by the absence of luck on the Red players’ side, but they deserve praise.’ He continued: ‘The Al Ahly vs Pyramids match will be decisive in determining Ribeiro’s future.
Al Ahly and Zamalek cannot afford to lose this many points at the start of the league. I expect changes at Al Ahly because they always compete for titles, which might boost the players’ morale. A technical change is also possible at Pyramids.’ He further said: ‘Players also have responsibilities; the coach will not score goals himself. For example, Trezeguet’s shot that hit the post could have changed the result, but Mahalla players exerted great effort, and the draw might be a reward for them.
Also, there should never be mockery of Alaa Abdel Aal, Mahalla’s coach.’ He pointed out: ‘I expect Ribeiro to leave if the match with Pyramids ends in a draw, and Yorsitch might leave if he loses to Al Ahly.’ He added: ‘Zamalek and its players should benefit from Al Ahly and Pyramids losing early points and hold continuous meetings to show seriousness and play with fighting spirit on the field.’ He explained: ‘After the Housing Ministry’s statement, it seems difficult to regain the October land. We desperately needed this land currently, especially since membership revenues would have solved many crises. During our time managing Zamalek, we suffered repeated crises, including freezing club accounts, and I hope this issue is resolved quickly.’
