Reactions on social media platforms varied regarding US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the Israeli war on Gaza. Some celebrated it as a path to salvation, while others viewed it as serving Tel Aviv’s interests and imposing its conditions rather than benefiting the Palestinians.
On Monday, President Trump announced in a White House press conference a comprehensive plan to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip, following a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court.
The plan, which includes 20 points, calls for the release of Israeli prisoners in Gaza within 72 hours and the disarmament of the resistance. It also stipulates that Gaza be temporarily managed by a transitional Palestinian technocratic committee responsible for public services under the supervision of an international transitional body called the “Peace Council,” chaired by Trump.
The plan also includes launching a broad reconstruction program that opens the door to establishing a Palestinian state in the medium term.
During the press conference presenting the plan’s points, Trump expressed optimism about its success in achieving peace between the two parties and claimed that Hamas poses a threat to regional stability.
Supporters and Opponents
Reactions from activists on social media were mixed. Some welcomed the plan and predicted Palestinian resistance acceptance, while others saw it as a trap restricting resistance goals with conditions mostly favoring the Israeli occupation.
The “Shabakat” episode dated (2025/09/30) addressed the activists’ division. Activist Mustafa rejected Trump’s plan, considering it does not meet Palestinians’ aspirations, writing:
A proposal rejected entirely by the Palestinian people first, and by the Palestinian resistance factions second; because it does not meet the aspirations of the Palestinian people.
Activist Wael believed the decision lies solely with the people of Gaza, tweeting:
There is no need for any of us to theorize for the people of Gaza, as we have not lived what they have lived over the past two years. They have the right to accept or reject, and we have no right to advise them.
Activist Mohammed called for ending the war and enabling residents to live in peace after years of suffering, writing:
After more than two years of torment and suffering, don’t the people of Gaza have the right to live peacefully on their land? Enough of what they have endured and seen… Let the war end; the time has come.
Activist Khaled questioned whether there is an agreement between Trump and Netanyahu aiming to put Hamas in a dilemma: either accept Israeli conditions or face a displacement scenario with US support, tweeting:
Is there an agreement between Trump and Netanyahu? Because they know Hamas will not agree to this plan, thus cornering it… Either submit to Netanyahu’s conditions or there is open support from Trump to Netanyahu and the displacement of Gaza’s residents.
Netanyahu confirmed his support for Trump’s plan as it aligns with the five goals he set to end the war.
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid Al-Ansari clarified that Qatar and Egypt handed the US plan to Hamas’s negotiating delegation, which promised to study the plan responsibly.
