The Luxor Culture Branch held awareness and cultural meetings as part of the General Authority for Cultural Palaces’ agenda, under the leadership of Major General Khaled El-Laban, within the Ministry of Culture’s program to spread awareness in the governorates. Activities began at the Al-Toud Cultural Palace with a puppet theater about the story of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him), performed by Sabreen Mohamed. Al-Tarf Cultural Palace prepared an artistic workshop to make a macramé hanging, organized by Hassan Rifai. Hassan Fathy Cultural Palace held an exhibition of children’s paintings from painting workshops, displayed by Mohamed Ibrahim.

At the Austrian Cultural Library, a lecture titled “Names with History: Dr. Samira Moussa, Pioneer of Science and Knowledge” was held, where Abu Al-Makarem Abdel Jalil, a library official, spoke about Dr. Samira Moussa’s biography and her scientific journey in Egypt and abroad. She was the first teaching assistant at the Faculty of Science, Cairo University, in the 1950s. The lecture highlighted the circumstances that led Samira Moussa to call for the establishment of atomic energy in Egypt to treat cancer and use it to protect Egypt’s security. The Egyptian state honors its children, whether alive or deceased. Dr. Moussa has been honored throughout the ages and paved the way for Egyptian women to occupy their place in all scientific fields.

Among the activities of the Luxor Culture Branch, headed by Hussein Al-Noubi and affiliated with the South Upper Egypt Cultural Region under the supervision of Mahmoud Abdel Wahab, the Luxor Cultural Palace organized a lecture titled “The Origin of Poetry,” presented by poet Ahmed Al-Iraqi. He spoke about the origin of poetry, historians’ opinions on the origin of poetry, poetry in Mesopotamia, ancient Egypt, and the pre-Islamic era, and stages of poetry development. Additionally, the palace prepared an artistic workshop titled “Art and Innovation” using ceramic dough, trained by Rana Mohamed, a specialist in plastic arts at the palace.
