Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, sent an official memo to the company’s employees following the launch of the enhanced iPhone 17 series.
This tradition has been upheld since the era of Steve Jobs, providing Cook an opportunity to review the company’s performance that year.
Tech expert Mark Gurman shared this memo in his newsletter “Power On,” noting that Tim Cook was very pleased with the iPhone 17 launch.
Cook also granted his employees additional days off, appreciating their hard work to make this year successful, according to a report by “phonearena” reviewed by Al Arabiya Business.
The iPhone 17 launch was a tremendous success, with new models selling in much higher numbers than the iPhone 16 series.
While the new iPhone SE enjoys wide popularity and the redesigned iPhone 17 Pro attracts attention, the base model, iPhone 17, received significant focus this year.
Thanks to storage upgrades and the addition of a ProMotion display on the base model, this device became the best standard iPhone in years.
It also retains the old look of the iPhone 16, making it favored by consumers who dislike the new design of the iPhone 17 Pro.
In his memo, Cook expressed great pride in the impact Apple has made.
Cook said in his internal memo: “I am very proud of the impact we have on our customers, the opportunities we provide to our amazing developers, and the world at large.”
He continued: “In appreciation of your outstanding efforts, I am pleased to announce that everyone will receive three additional days off to relax and spend time with loved ones. In the U.S., most teams will take Monday through Wednesday off before Thanksgiving, while retail, AppleCare, and international teams will be able to use their days later.”
There is no doubt that the iPhone 17 launch was extremely successful; however, as expected, Tim Cook did not address the many issues currently reported by iPhone 17 users.
Firstly, the iPhone 17 suffers from cellular connectivity problems regardless of the network used.
Also, iOS 26, with its new liquid glass design, shows some annoying visual glitches.
Apple’s intelligence features on the iPhone 17 are disabled, a very rare problem fortunately. Lastly, the iPhone 17 Pro is easily damaged due to its new aluminum body.
It’s great to see Cook rewarding Apple employees with extra days off, but it would be better to see Apple acknowledge the existing problems in the iPhone 17 series and perhaps promise to fix them.
