Ankara, August 12 /BNA/ – Turkish Agriculture and Forestry Minister Ibrahim Yumakli announced today that firefighting teams have succeeded in controlling 45 out of 55 fires that broke out across the country. The minister explained via his account on the “X” platform that firefighting teams have fully controlled fires in the areas of Ayvacik and Ezine in Çanakkale province, Mudurnu in Bolu, Göksun in Kahramanmaraş, Milas in Muğla, Yayladağı in Hatay, and the Şehzadlar area in Manisa. He pointed out that teams are still working to extinguish fires in the center of Çanakkale province and the Dardanus district affiliated with it, in addition to Soma district in Manisa and the Enez district in Edirne, confirming that maximum efforts are being made to control them as soon as possible.
Yumakli warned that the country is going through a very dangerous week regarding forest fires, urging citizens to be cautious and avoid any actions that may lead to fires, such as lighting fires or throwing cigarette butts in vulnerable areas. This comes after the Turkish government held a meeting to assess the situation and take necessary measures to confront the forest fires amid rising temperatures.
