US President Donald Trump confirmed on Sunday that the war in Gaza has ended, as he headed to Israel and Egypt to celebrate the ceasefire agreement in the sector and the release of hostages.
Trump told reporters, in response to a question about whether he was confident the conflict between Israel and Hamas was over, “The war is over. Okay? Do you understand that?”
He confirmed that a peace council will be formed soon to manage the next phase in Gaza.
Trump expected the release of hostages soon, praised Qatar’s role in reaching the agreement, and also commended Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, describing him as “having done a very good job.”
