US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the United States is ready to make a deal with Iran “when Tehran is ready for it.”

Speaking before the Israeli Knesset on Monday, President Trump said Washington is prepared to reach an agreement with Iran when Tehran is ready.

Washington and Tehran held five rounds of nuclear talks before a 12-day war between Iran and Israel in June.

Addressing the Iranian people, Trump said, “We are ready when you are ready, and it will be the best decision Iran makes, and it will happen,” referring to a deal with Iran. He added, “The hand of friendship and cooperation is extended. I tell you they (Iran) want to make a deal… If we can make a deal, it will be great.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi welcomed a possible “fair and balanced” US proposal regarding Tehran’s nuclear program on Saturday but said Iran had not received any starting points for negotiations. Araghchi told state TV, “If we receive a reasonable, balanced, and fair proposal from the Americans for negotiations, we will certainly consider it,” adding that Tehran and Washington exchange messages through intermediaries.

Trump said, “Nothing benefits this part of the world more than Iran’s leaders renouncing terrorists… and recognizing Israel’s right to exist.” However, Araghchi said on Saturday that the idea of Iran normalizing relations with Israel is “pure fantasy.” He added, “Iran will never recognize an occupying regime that committed genocide and killed children.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi apologized for declining an Egyptian invitation to attend the peace summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, saying, “Neither President Masoud Pezeshkian nor I can deal with those who attacked the Iranian people.”
