US President Donald Trump said that the Gaza Peace Council will start its work “soon,” confirming that consultations are still ongoing regarding the selection of the council’s president.
Trump explained, in statements reported by Al Arabiya channel, that he wants to ensure whether former British Prime Minister Tony Blair “will be accepted by everyone” if he assumes the presidency of the council, adding that the goal is to ensure comprehensive consensus among the parties involved in the peace process.
Trump added that the Peace Council will serve as a platform for coordination between countries and organizations concerned with Gaza’s reconstruction efforts and enhancing stability in the region, noting that the upcoming phase will witness broad international cooperation to ensure the implementation of the Gaza agreement’s provisions.
