US President Donald Trump said before his arrival on Monday in Tel Aviv that Qatar provided significant assistance in reaching the Gaza agreement, affirming that he would be proud to visit the Gaza Strip.

In remarks aboard the presidential plane en route to Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, Trump said the war in Gaza is over and that everyone wants to be part of peace, adding, “I will be proud to visit Gaza and would like to set foot on its land.”

The US president added, “I do not believe those who gave me verbal guarantees about the Gaza agreement want to disappoint me,” and said he had disagreements with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that were quickly resolved.

Regarding Qatar’s efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement between the resistance and Israel and prisoner exchange, Trump said, “Qatar gave us very great help in reaching the Gaza agreement.”

He added that Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is “a wonderful man who really helped us with the Gaza agreement,” also saying that the Qataris “were very brave and their leader, the Emir of Qatar, was very courageous.”

Last Thursday, Trump announced that Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) reached an agreement on the first phase of his plan for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange following indirect negotiations between the two parties in Sharm El-Sheikh, with the participation of Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar, and under American supervision.
