On behalf of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, participated in the “Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit,” which aims to strengthen international support for the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

The summit was also attended by several state leaders, heads of governments, delegations, and representatives of various regional and international organizations. The summit witnessed the signing by US President Donald Trump and the leaders of the countries mediating between Israel and Hamas—Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar—of a historic comprehensive document regarding the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

President Trump praised the continuous efforts of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to reach this agreement, thanking him for the “wonderful effort” made to achieve what he described as “the greatest deal ever.” Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi described the Sharm El Sheikh agreement to end the Gaza war as a “historic turning point.”

He expressed hope that “this agreement would close a painful chapter in human history and open the door to a new era of peace and stability in the Middle East.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was expected to participate in the summit, according to the Egyptian presidency, but Netanyahu’s office later stated he would not attend due to the approaching holiday. The newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that “Netanyahu avoided attending the summit because he did not want to upset the Haredim, who insist on respecting religious holidays.”

Meanwhile, all 20 living Israeli hostages were released yesterday, along with 1,968 Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, as part of the first phase of the peace plan announced by Trump.

Hamas handed over the Israeli detainees in two batches, delivering 7 to the International Committee of the Red Cross team in southern Gaza, and 13 later in Khan Yunis.
