On Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump hinted at imposing new sanctions on Russia if it does not seek to establish peace in Ukraine, saying, “You will see things happen” if he is not satisfied with the decisions of his counterpart Vladimir Putin.

Trump told reporters in the Oval Office while receiving his Polish counterpart Karol Nawrocki: “Whatever his decision is, we either are happy with it or not. And if we are not satisfied, you will see things happen.”

Trump confirmed that he intends to speak with Putin in the coming days regarding ending the war in Ukraine.

After his meeting with Putin in Alaska last month, Trump made no significant progress toward his goal of stopping the fighting. He said, “I will talk to him in the next few days and find out exactly what is going on.”

Trump indicated that he has no further message to Putin and is awaiting a decision while Russia continues to show almost no interest in ending its war with Ukraine.

Trump told reporters at the White House: “I have no message to President Putin… He knows my position and will make his decision one way or another.”
