The South Giza Misdemeanor Court judge renewed the detention of 20 suspects, including children and women, accused of exploiting children in begging activities in the area known as the ‘Black Hole’ for 15 days pending investigations. Security forces uncovered the details of a post circulated on social media supported by videos showing an opening under a well-known bridge called the ‘Black Hole’, frequented by children, women, and youth, used as a den for exploiting children in begging. The police identified the location within the Al-Ahram police precinct in Giza and arrested 20 individuals, including 8 women and 5 children, 7 of whom had criminal records. Nine pieces of white weapons were also seized from nine suspects. Investigations revealed that the detainees exploited minors in begging and aggressively selling goods around the arrest site.
Legal procedures were taken, coordination was made with relevant authorities to close the opening, and children were placed in specialized care homes to ensure their safety.
