On Monday, the CAF praised the high technical level of Sofiane Bayazid, a player of the Algerian local national football team. This came after the player delivered respectable performances in the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN). CAF previously tweeted: “He proved his worth as a substitute player. Sofiane Bayazid scored 3 goals and made every appearance a success.” Bayazid scored against Uganda, Guinea Conakry, and Sudan, each time coming on as a substitute for his teammate, striker Aymen Mahious, who failed to score throughout the tournament. This tweet appears as an implicit message directed to the national coach Vladimir Petkovic ahead of announcing the ‘Greens’ squad, suggesting the inclusion of the Mouloudia Club d’Alger striker. Notably, the 28-year-old from the municipality of Nazla (Tamanrasset province) has never played for the senior Algerian national team.
