The recent Israeli strike against the Ansar Allah (Houthis) government in Sanaa, which resulted in the killing of Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahwi and several ministers, sparked widespread debate on social media platforms.

About a year ago, the ministers of the Change and Construction government affiliated with the Ansar Allah group in Sanaa were appointed under the leadership of Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahwi, aiming to strengthen the administrative structure of the group in the areas under its control.

Last Thursday, Israel attacked western and southern Sanaa, targeting prominent leaders of the group, with the targeted areas witnessing horrific scenes of bombing and destruction.

Ten explosions shook various parts of the capital Sanaa, including the strategic Jabal Attan area. Initially, the group’s leadership denied any direct targeting of its leaders.

However, the group retracted its position yesterday and issued an official statement saying, “The Israeli enemy targeted the Prime Minister and several ministers during a routine government workshop, and official institutions will continue to provide services to the Yemeni people and will not be affected.”

The head of the group’s Supreme Political Council, Mahdi Al-Mashat, announced the martyrdom of the Prime Minister and ministers in an official statement, affirming the continuity of resistance despite the painful blow.

Opinions among activists were divided according to the August 31, 2025 episode of the program “Networks” between those describing the operation as an intelligence achievement and others considering it a treacherous act, while some see it as merely a lucky strike without significant strategic importance.

The tweeter Abdullah downplayed the strategic importance of the operation, writing, “It is just a lucky strike, nothing more. This strike is indeed painful, but it is not an intelligence victory.”

On the other hand, activist Abdulrahman expressed a completely different stance, describing the targeting as a treacherous act, saying, “The Zionist enemy’s targeting of the Prime Minister and several ministers in the Change and Construction government is a cowardly and treacherous attack; it is a civilian government and its meeting was open and public.”

Conversely, account owner Saleh criticized the Ansar Allah group, saying, “The Houthis are annoying complainers; we launched a missile at Eilat port, destroyed Ben Gurion Airport, there is no safe place in Israel, and every two hours a statement is released, and if Israel bombs them, they start whining.”

Meanwhile, tweeter Ibrahim compared the military capabilities of both sides, mocking the Houthis’ capabilities, tweeting, “We await the Houthis’ response by launching a missile or drone, and their audience will boast about sending a million Israelis to shelters; Houthi missiles have not killed a fly in Israel.”

The Israeli occupation army described the operation as complex and based on precise intelligence information, noting that approval was obtained quickly, and the goal was to eliminate the group’s top leadership.

Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said, “The attack dealt an unprecedented crushing blow to the senior security and political leaders of the Houthi group, and it is just the beginning. Yemen’s fate will be like Iran’s fate.”
