The technical staff of the Egyptian national football team decided to exclude Liverpool star Mohamed Salah from the upcoming match against Guinea-Bissau, scheduled for next Sunday, as part of the tenth and final round of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
Egypt’s team manager, Ibrahim Hassan, explained in press statements that Mohamed Salah will not participate in the upcoming match to rest after securing qualification to the World Cup, but he will be present at Cairo International Stadium to celebrate the achievement with his teammates.
The Egyptian team officially qualified for the World Cup finals after defeating Djibouti 3-0 last Thursday, with goals scored by Ibrahim Adel and Mohamed Salah (two goals).
This qualification marks the fourth time in Egypt’s history to reach the World Cup after previous participations in 1934, 1990 (Italy), and 2018 (Russia).
